What is telehealthcare?
Telemedicine, Telehealth, Telecare, Telehealthcare - the mix of terms and definitions can often be confusing.
The 'tele' prefix is applied to any area of health and social care where technologies are employed to diagnose, treat, manage or support at a distance. Collectively the purpose of these technologies is to mitigate the effect of distance in health and social care delivery.
Telehealthcare is the convergence of telecare and telehealth to provide a technology-enabled and integrated approach to the delivery of effective, high quality health and care services. It can be used to describe a range of care options available remotely by telephone, mobile, broadband and videoconferencing.
