• Security Issues for The Website

Community websites are designed as ‘open’ websites to facilitate communication, information sharing and collaborative working between colleagues across organisational boundaries.

The aims of the websites are to increase access to expertise, examples of good practice and to help develop professional development. They also aim to allow members to promote dialogue and discussion within a relevant forum, to reduce information duplication and to facilitate the education, training and information literacy skills of network members.

    Issue to consider:

    • Anyone can access the community website
    • However, subpages and wikis/blogs/discussions can be ‘locked down’ by the Administrators, making them accessible only to members of the site.
    • With ongoing use, the CD Working Group will consider whether more pages should be restricted, but will encourage open access as far as possible.
    • Anyone with an Athens password can become a member of the site and view locked pages, contribute to discussions etc and upload resources.
    • Any resources uploaded currently to the Resource Library are accessible to anyone using the search box on the Home page.
    • Word documents etc may be password protected. The same password will be used for all files and will be notified to the Network members separately.

     Protected Pages:

    • There is a protected page under Resources that is only available to members of the AO network.
    • The discussions page is restricted to access only by members of the AO network.
    • Permissions for both pages need to be granted by one of the administrators.
